Advantages To The
House
Several reasons the game is attractive to players and casinos, are outlined on the Misc page.
In addition:
Normal game action is not interrupted or slowed down. Unlike card game side bets that require
special procedures and/or analysis on every hand, here the dealer does nothing special unless there
is a repeat with players participating. And even then, the delay is normally very minimal.
It is simple for dealers and floor people to learn and to operate.
Level 1 pays $20 - 55% of what a regular bet would pay, so this side bet is not unattractive to players.
Level 2 pays $250 - 52% MORE than what a typical player who presses the bet by $3 would have
won ($161), making this a very attractive bet to the players. (See the Comparison section of the Standard
Payout page for the math.)
There are already players that prefer to play the last number hit. This is a natural for them.
It is easy to explain. Dealers can simply say, "You're betting that the last number will
hit again. And again. And again. And again. If it does, you win the jackpot total shown. And if it
only repeats once, you still win."
Exposure / Comments /
Warnings
As shown in the Probability section of the Math page, it is possible for the Level 4 jackpot to
be hit several times in near succession. While that is extremely unlikely, budgeting part of the coin-in
towards the next jackpot, and another part towards exposure, makes such a financial hit less costly.
Because all participating players bet and win at the same time, the jackpot payout is PER
PLAYER, and not split among the players. Therefore, the progressive jackpot total should
increment a set amount, regardless of the number of players participating, for every spin where
at least one player at the table is participating. As a consequence, there is a possibility of
having more players in the game than average when the progressive jackpot hits. This can result
in a payout that is greater than the amount collected. However, this is a relatively small risk,
and is complemented by the opposite possibility - that of having fewer players participating than
average when it hits. Still, because of this, it is recommended that the casino budget of a portion
of the coin-in as a reserve towards this exposure.
There is debate whether Roulette dealers can spin with accuracy causing the ball to land where
they want. Much of the debate talks about the dealer hitting a specific zone on the wheel. A dealer
with spin control that is trying to influence the outcome of this jackpot, has to hit a specific number,
not just a specific zone, and has to hit the number consecutively, not just hit the specific number often.
So, although this jackpot can be exploited by player who has teamed with such a dealer, the regular game
is much more easily exploited by such a team.
Multiple Simultaneous
Winners
Simultaneous qualifies as, a table having at least one repeat while another table also has
at least one repeat, and both tables have not yet had a non-repeat, and both tables have not yet
had four repeats for the Level 4 payout.
In such a situation, the system can be set to pay both tables based upon the progressive
amount that was in effect when the bets were placed, or the first table to come to a resolution will be
paid based upon the current jackpot amount, while the second table to come to a resolution will be
paid based upon the revised jackpot amount.
No matter which option the casino chooses, a late bettor, if allowed, will always be paid
based upon the revised jackpot amount.
Misc
Roulette Wheel: If played as a progressive, the jackpot is pooled with other tables. Therefore
all tables with the jackpot must be the same type, or a separate jackpot needs to be established for playing
on single and double zero tables. Some jurisdictions, including NJ and PA, allow casinos to use a double zero
wheel on a single zero table, with the proviso that any spin resulting in a double zero, is treated like a
no?spin. Placing this jackpot bet on a single zero table with a double zero wheel, means that hitting a double
zero can play for this side bet only ? all other bets will push. While having the double zero position play
for this single bet and push for other bets may need Gaming approval, objections seem unlikely. Note:
Probabilities discussed on this website are based on a double zero wheel.
Table Opening: Since this bet is that the next spin matches the prior spin, there are a number
of options available for the first spin when a table opens. These same options can be available when an
inactive table gets new players.
1) Worst Option: Do not allow this bet for the first spin.
2) Better: Use the prior spin if it is still indicated on the slide rule, or as indicated on the electronic
history display.
3) Best Option: Allow the first player at the table to pick the number.
No Spin: The dealer's control panel includes a "Reset / Override" key switch to be
used if a token acceptor has malfunctioned and not dropped the token in the slot, or if the number of tokens
showing as accepted in the dealer's display does not agree with the number of tokens removed from the
bucket. In that case, the ball can be stopped and "No Spin" called. This is also used as a
backspace key, canceling the prior buttons, one at a time. When the "Reset / Override" is
used to cancel the "No More Bets" button, the tokens are returned to the players, the "No
Win" must be pressed to unlock the token acceptors, and the players must bet them again if they
choose to participate after the "No Spin" occurrence.
Game and Budgets: The house has the option of selecting the maximum number of repeats, and
whether to use a simple or progressive payment format. When using the simple payment format, the house can
set any payment amount. When using the progressive payment format, the house has the option to alter the
progression unit, and jackpot seed value. Levels 1, 2 and 3, can be either a simple payment or a percentage,
with the house setting the payment and percentage amounts. Values presented in this website are suggestions
only, based on the analysis shown.
